The Survivors: PJ Harvey
Today’s exclusive Q+A is with PJ Harvey, who talks what makes her laugh, where she keeps all of her many awards, and what her brother asked her to play at his wedding. That last bit is below. The rest is here. Tomorrow at GQ.com: David Johansen of the New York Dolls.
“You Said Something,” from 2000’s Stories From the City, Stories From the Sea, has become a staple at weddings here in Brooklyn. Did you know that?
PJ Harvey: Really? That’s lovely. That’s really lovely to hear. I didn’t know that anybody had used it at a wedding. That’s fantastic! You should be getting royalties, or at least some cake.
PJ Harvey: [laughs] I actually played at my brother’s wedding. And the song that they requested for me to play was “Rid of Me.” That’s a true story. My own brother.[Photograph by Mark Seliger]
I already have a poster of Polly in my room, but I wouldn’t mind having this one too.
